This one is particularly fun because the maker has a very specific idea behind it.
Maker says: It was originally created from a 50/50 bin of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. They wanted something “lighter than red wine, less tannic than skin contact and more berry-fruited than white.” It was influenced by Sylvain Pataille's Fleur de Pinot Marsannay Rosé and is intended as a dinner-table rosé, not merely a summer/patio wine.
For the 2023 version, the maker describes the wine as feeling like “seasons changing, raw linen, strawberries with the stems, incense burned yesterday.” It underwent semi-carbonic maceration and was aged in neutral barrels.
In normal language:
It's the weird, gorgeous middle ground between red, rosé and orange wine. Fruity but not sweet, textured but not tannic.
